Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Urmston are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Urmston, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license for the relevant vehicle category is required, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further stipulations will be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Urmston office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document its state. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, aside from standard wear and tear. Any new damage identified will be evaluated and charges will apply accordingly. Ensure you return the vehicle with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental, along with an administration fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts specified in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to minimize your financial liability. Any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount is your responsibility unless additional coverage applies. Negligent or improper use will remain your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle should only be used as intended, respecting passenger and weight limits. Additionally, traveling outside the specified geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
In accordance with English and Welsh law, Car Hire Urmston is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or data, resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is limited to the total amount paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to cases of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or instances of fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
